After a three-hour spectacular opening ceremony on Thursday, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 competition will be ready to roll.
And just like the successful IPL model - six teams or franchises backed by huge sums of cash, an array of illustrious international big names like Shahid Afridi and Chris Gayle as well household favourites - will do battle over 33 matches from Feb 10-29.
The player of the tournament will win a car.
The six franchises are Barisal Burners, Chittagong Kings, Dhaka Gladiators, Khulna Royal Bengals, Duronto Rajshahi and Sylhet Royals.
On opening day (Friday) Barisal Burners play Sylhet Royals and Chittagong Kings take on Duronto Rajshahi.
The format sees the first match being played at 2:00pm and second game starting at 6:30pm under lights.
Following the opening ceremony, which starts at 6:30pm at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, president Zillur Rahman will inaugurate the tournament.
A host of well known Bangladeshi and Indian singers, dancers and performers will take part.
The programme will be rounded off by an eye-catching fireworks display.
