The Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Finance Ministry wants
to impose Value Added Tax (VAT) on the profit of money-spinning
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), said an official of the Ministry of
Youth and Sports. During an inter-ministerial meeting on Monday, the
department asked Ministry for Youth and Sports to let it know the
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The meeting which was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports with
the presence of high ups of the different ministries to make the BPL
success, the first ever of its kind is being organsied by the BCB.
Apart from that, in the meeting the finance ministry also wants to know about the exchange of foreign currency from BPL. The asked the BPL to give them rough calculation about the expenditure behind the foreign players and officials and others.
